Quote is from Gentelman's Agreement (1947) This is an excellent movie about anti-semitism in the US in the 1940's. Amazingly, it doesn't once mention the Holocaust and gets it's point across. It won Best Picture at the Oscars and stars Gregory Peck. It also has a very young Dean Stockwell (Al from Quantum Leap) as Peck's son. Highly recommended.

The Mel story seems to have kept quite quiet, I guess the worlds eyes are in our direction anyway.
